Originally from Northern California, Robin moved to the metro area at a young age. Although he remains a Californian at heart, Robin has established roots in the Washington metro area, receiving his high school diploma from W.T. Woodson. Robin then proceeded to complete his undergraduate studies with honors at James Madison University with a major in Biology/Premedicine and a minor in business.
While at James Madison, Robin volunteered at Western State Mental Hospital on the forensics unit, peaking his interest in psychology and psychiatry. He then served at a therapeutic wilderness program for male adolescents (aged 10-18) as a counselor, performing intensive individual and group therapy on a daily basis.
He furthered his studies at Rutgers University, receiving a Master in Social Work. While at Rutgers, Robin interned under Charles White a leading researcher and forerunner in Bowen Family Systems theory. Utilizing Bowen Theory, he led groups for dual diagnosis patients at Richard Hall Community Mental Health Center. He also received training through the Princeton family center in Bowen Family Systems theory.
After graduation, Robin worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital as a psychiatric liason in the Emergency Department. He is adept at performing emergency crisis intervention and a full psychosocial evaluation and Axis I-V diagnosis. He also worked on the inpatient psychiatric unit at Fairfax hospital formulating treatment plans and facilitating family therapy meetings. Robin has co-facilitated groups at Life with Cancer for children who had parents affected by cancer.
As a psychotherpist, Robin maintains a well-rounded skill set. Not only is he adept in emergency psychiatry, he has developed a specialization in treating young adults and adolescents, both in individual therapy and group therapy. He is the Director of Group Therapy Programming at Tysons Psychiatry.
